Vicious Lips (1986): This campy grindhouse horror follows an all-girl hair band (the titular Vicious Lips) as they take their act on the road - or whatever you call a tour that’s intergalactic. Also featuring Kareem Lewis, Ali Amin Carter, Tyler Kay Whitley. "Twisted House Sitter" is a Tubi Original. But when Morgan unexpectedly returns home from vacation early, Alicia isn’t ready to give up her new lavish lifestyle. Spotting a golden opportunity to get a taste of luxury, driver Alicia ( Crystal Lee Naomi) takes up residence in Morgan’s mansion and steals her clothes and credit cards to boot. Twisted House Sitter (2021): This wickedly fun thriller kicks off when work-obsessed social media guru Morgan ( Jennifer Freeman) accidentally leaves her keys in a rideshare car on the way to the airport. ![]() Also featuring: Dale Resteghini, Stacii Jae Johnson. Mathers plays himself, as do Ja Rule, Vitamin C, Prodigy and Havoc (better known as rap duo Mobb Deep), Rah Digga and Vanilla Ice. (That is, perhaps, one reason Artisan Home Entertainment had to recall copies of the film on DVD and VHS in 2003.) Instead, the film follows a group of white teenagers who set out to capture the titular witch, a malevolent entity who targets rappers. Even more horror, streaming free on Tubiĭa Hip Hop Witch (2003): Eminem’s face may be on the cover image for this hip hop "Blair Witch" spoof, but he’s not exactly the star. "The House of the Devil" stars Jocelyn Donahue as a college student who answers the wrong wanted ad, along with an early role for a pre-fame Greta Gerwig as the BFF with fantastic ‘70s hair and a brutal onscreen death. Speaking of holiday horror, its style is reminiscent of one of the classier proto-slashers, the original "Black Christmas" - another film that manages to be both hushed and shocking. And of the pair, the one that’s aged best is another retro throwback, "The House Of The Devil." The economy of storytelling in West’s tribute to horror films of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s is downright elegant, giving the film (and the audience) a chance to breathe in between moments of disturbing violence. Tubi has two of West’s films available for streaming. On a more secular note, indie-horror darling Ti West’s new movie "X" is now available on demand after a buzzy run at the box office. Just make sure you pay attention to the closing scene… netflix.Brittany Snow in "X" (A24), Rebecca Hall in "The Night House" (WarnerMedia) It’s a real megamix of genres, with paranormal activity, domestic drama, a neighbourhood serial killer and a potential alternative universe all crammed into the first 45 minutes, yet somehow all the disparate strands come together cohesively to tell a story that’s as believable as it is brilliantly shot. Helen Hunt is excellent as wealthy psychologist Jackie Harper, the wife of detective Greg (Jon Tenney) and mother to a teenage son who hates her for having an affair with a work colleague. The debut screenplay from actor-turned-writer Devon Graye, it features all the hallmarks of a great horror: suffocating sense of foreboding, sinister soundtrack, abrupt editing, a strong subplot, thoroughly satisfying twists and turns throughout, plus the ending you least expect. ![]() ![]() Even the camera movements are eerie in I See You, the 2018 psychological thriller about a small-town detective investigating the disappearance of a ten-year-old boy.
